The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, usually called the Rijksmuseum, or, in short, the Rijks, is the largest and most important national museum in the Netherlands. It is located between the Stadhouderskade and the Museumplein in the Amsterdam district of Zuid (South) and offers an overview of Dutch art and history in its more than 200 rooms. A large part of its collection of over 1 million objects consists of works of 17th-century Dutch masters. The building also houses the Rijksprentenkabinet (Print Room). The Rijksmuseum is owned by the State (Public Works Service) and is listed on the list of the Top 100 of Dutch UNESCO monuments.
